(VICTORIA, TEXAS) The City will close Laurent Street between Red River Street and Airline Road from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in two block sections, beginning Monday, July 28, 2008 to install new underground utility lines. All businesses and residences on Laurent Street will remain accessible via alternate routes.

This traffic detour will remain in effect for

approximately four nights, weather permitting. The contractor plans to begin the closure at the intersection of Red River Street to Park Street for the first night; then Park Street to Loma Vista Avenue for the second night; followed by Loma Vista Avenue to Hiller Street the third night; and finally Hiller Street to Airline Road for the fourth night. Drivers can expect major delays in the work zone and should use alternate routes to get around the work zone if possible.

This construction is part of the $9,885,800 Laurent Street Reconstruction Project – Phase I (Bus 59 to Airline Road). The contractor performing the work is Triple B Services, Inc. from Huffman, Texas.  This project will take about 18 months.
