Two-Step Mosquito Eradication Begins
(VICTORIA, TEXAS) The Parks and Recreation Department will begin spraying for mosquitoes throughout the city, completing the first pass by tonight; weather permitting.
It takes several days of fogging to complete the two-step program. Light winds and no rainfall are needed for the spraying to begin. The spraying will continue as long as the mosquito problem persists.
Earlier this week, crews began treating standing water around the city to control immature or larval stage mosquitoes.
Residents can help keep the mosquito population under control by draining anything outdoors that is a potential breeding place for mosquitoes: old tires, pet water bowls, poorly maintained pools, birdbaths, potted plants or clogged rain gutters.
For more information about the mosquito spraying program, call the Victoria Parks and Recreation Department at 485-3200.
