Gustav Update # 2

(VICTORIA, TEXAS) In the interest of public safety, Victoria County and the City of Victoria will continue to operate as a non-shelter community, and encourage all displaced persons to seek refuge further from the Gulf Coast

“With a landfall threat from Hurricane Gustav still an uncertainty and Tropical Storm Hanna scheduled to enter the Gulf of Mexico, we urge people seeking refuge to travel further inland and away from Texas’ coastal cities,” said Jeb Lacey, Victoria Emergency Management Coordinator.

Lacey urged anyone seeking refuge to drive to San Antonio and then dial 3-1-1 to receive instructions for locating available shelter further from the Texas coast.

For more information, contact the Victoria Office of Emergency Management, 485-3362.
