Free Winter Rose Pruning Workshop
Memorial Rose Garden Jan. 26-27
(Victoria, TX) Learn how to prepare your rose bushes for maximum color this spring. Join the Park’s rose experts at the Victoria Memorial Rose Garden in Riverside Park, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. January 26 and 27, as they share tips and techniques on rose pruning and planting methods.
Cultivated by experience, proper winter pruning is as much a skill as it is an art.
Following hands-on demonstrations, participants will spend the remainder of the session practicing winter-pruning techniques on the Hybrid Tea, Grandiflora, Climbing and Florabunda roses within the garden.
Participants are asked to bring their own bypass hand pruner, gloves and beverage. Those attending are advised to wear long-sleeve clothing to protect themselves from thorns. The Memorial Rose Garden is wheelchair accessible.
Contact the Parks and Recreation office at 485-3200 by no later than Monday, January 25 for reservations; space is limited.
