Mike Hernandez
Lieutenant Mike Hernandez began his career with the Victoria Police Department in 1989. His past assignments include Patrol, Major Traffic Accident Team, Narcotics, Juvenile Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant.
From 2006 until early 2012, Lieutenant Hernandez was in charge of General Assignments in the VPD Investigations Division. In this capacity, he oversaw the detectives investigating Adult Crimes (Property and Assault). He supervised other division personnel as well.
In January 2012, Lieutenant Hernandez became the VPD Professional Standards Lieutenant in Police Administration. His duties include Internal Affairs, Intelligence, Grants and special projects.
Lieutenant Hernandez is a Firearms Instructor and is in charge of the VPD Armory and the department’s weapons in the area of inventory, care and maintenance.
Lt Hernandez has attended Module I and II of Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT). He holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certificate and has over 3100 hrs of law enforcement training.
